RUSTENBURG
Was founded in 1850 and proclaimed in 1851. It became a municipality in 1918. The name means a place of rest
Dutch Reformed Church
Dutch Reformed Church - Fatima Bhayat st (Plein Str) – The foundation stone was laid by Commandant General PJ Joubert, Vice President of the ZAR on 23 April 1898. The building was only finished in 1903 due to the Anglo Boer War. The building was used by the British as a hospital during this war. Declared a National monument in 1979.

Paul Kruger Statue
Paul Kruger Statue – Paul Kruger(1825-1904) in front of the town hall - made by the French sculpture Jean Achard on request of Genl Jan Smuts and erected in 1921.
Anglican church
Anglican church – on premises of old cemetery, cnr Bosch and Nelson Mandela Str – Built in 1871, one of the oldest Anglican churches in the old Transvaal. The church was moved and reconstructed in the old cemetery in 1967. Now vandalised and in ruins. Declared a National Monument in 1972. British soldiers who lost their life in this district during the ABW were interred in this cemetery.

Holy Trinity Anglican Church

House Heyne
House Heyne, Oliver Tambo str cnr Bosch – this house was built by Karl Heyne and resides until his death – circa 1920.
Masonic Hall
Masonic Hall, Nelson Mandela rd cnr Bosch – the corner stone was laid in 1921. Now the MOTH Hall
Railway station
Railway station, end of Beyers Naude Dr – the railway lines reach Rustenburg in 1906.

Synagogue – next to MOTH hall – Built in 1924. Now occupied by Central Babtist Church
