REITZ

It was laid out on the farm Stampkop, a portion of Langspruit. It developed from a trading post for transport riders, Singer’s Post. Founded in 1889. Originally named Amsterdam. It was renamed in 1899 in honour of Francis William Reitz (1844-1934), President of the Orange Free State, who proclaimed it. 
Dutch Reformed Church, Church St
Dutch Reformed Church, Church St – Designed by architect Wynand Louw. The cornerstone was laid by President MT Steyn on 10 August 1912. Inaugurated by Rev JD Kestell on 18 May 1914. Declared a National Monument.

Town Hall
Town Hall, Voortrekker st – The architect was HE de la Cornillere. The cornerstone was laid by the Mayor, Councillor CH Walker on 12 February 1937. It was officially opened on 14 December 1937 by the Administrator of the Orange Free State, Dr JF van Rensburg. Declared a Provincial Heritage Site.
