Dick King Memorial, Cnr Memorial and Berea str – This memorial commemorates the ride of Dick King from Port Natal to Grahamstown from 26 May to 4 June 1842, a distance of about 1000 km in 10 days on horseback. This was to request help for the besieged British garrison in Natal by the Voortrekkers. This memorial was unveiled by G Heaton Nicholls, Administrator of Natal on 31st May 1944 on behalf of the Sons of England.
