GROOT MARICO
Although settled as early as 1845, it was founded on the farm Wonderfontein in 1948 and is administered by a health committee. The name has been explained as meaning ‘place of blood’, ‘place of cornering and killing’, ‘the meandering or erratic one’ and ‘pastures’.
