Laid out about 1887. Named after Lewis Peter Ford (1846-1925), partner in the Jeppe and Ford estate Company and Attorney-General of the Transvaal.

Mynpacht Hotel, Cnr Central & Main. The gable was dated 1896 but the date was removed
Maronite Catholic Church
Maronite Catholic Church, Mint rd – originally the DR Church designed in 1903. Sold to the Maronite community (Lebanese) in 1935. Used by them until 2008.

Standard Bank Building 
Standard Bank Building – Main & Central Rd – Near the site of the 1922 Rand Revolt. The site was purchased by the Bank in 1917. Designed by Stucke, Harrison & Smal in 1939. Built by R Forbes & Co. Completed in 1940. Used by the Bank until April 2016.
Post Office
Post Office, Central Rd – This building was originally a three- storey Police station dated 1898. It was badly damaged in the 1922 mining strike. The third floor was removed, and the building restored. It became a Post Office in 1923.
Public Lavatory;
Public Lavatory – Bearing the first Coat-of-Arms of the Johannesburg Town Council. It was served as a blockhouse during the rand revolt of 1922. Snipers were firing from the windows and being shelled by the government troops.
1922 Rand Revolt 
1922 Rand Revolt – Took place in Fordsburg Square ( See Toilet Building) on Commercial, Main, Central and Mint Roads. 219 people died in the clashes. The strike leaders committed suicide in the market building.
