• Namutoni Fort – Initially erected as cattle-disease control post after the outbreak of the rinderpest in 1897. Thereafter it remained a frontier post for the supervision of trade with the Owambo. The fort was attacked by the Owambo on 28 January 1904 and set fire to it. A plaque at the entrance bears a declaration in German in memory of the defenders of Numatoni. It was rebuilt and served for various purposes. (police station, occupation by SA troops in 1915.) It was recommended to be reconstructed in 1947. Declared a national monument on 15 February 1950. Thereafter used as a tourist camp in 1957
