Laid out on the farm Doornfontein in 1887. It was given because there were acacia trees at the spring.

Bettelsheim House, cnr Beit and Davies St, 1888 – Built in the Moorish-Gothic style. Henri Bettelsheim was the Turkish Consul.
Lion Shul
Lion Shul, Siemert Rd – This synagogue – the oldest in Johannesburg - was designed by MJ Harris, the first Jewish architect in Johannesburg. The foundation stone was laid on 18 August 1905 by Sir Arthur Lawley, Lieutenant-Governor of the Transvaal.

Alhambra Theatre
Alhambra Theatre, 61 Beit St cnr Sivewright Rd – The theatre opened in 1919. It started as a live theatre. It was used as a cinema and later revert to a theatre run by Peter Toerien.
Music School
Music School, 96 End Street, designed by Herbert Baker – 1905 – only the façade and the front rooms remained.
