CALITZDORP

On the R 62 road. Established on the farm Buffelsvlei as a settlement to the DR Church in 1821. Achieved municipal status in1911. It was named after three brothers, JJ Calitz, MC Calitz and Frederik Calitz from whom the land was purchased.
Dutch Reformed Church
Dutch Reformed Church, Andries Pretorius St – Replacing an earlier church, the cornerstone was laid on17December 1910. It was inaugurated on26 April 1912 by Rev WA Joubert.  It was designed by Wynand Louw. Declared a National Heritage site. A monument was erected commemorate Richard Van Reenen Barry who died on 16 November 1920 – the first minister of this church.

Huisrivier Pass, on R 62 between Calitzdorp and Ladismith
Huisrivier Pass, on R 62 between Calitzdorp and Ladismith – The original pass was built in 1896/7.  The stonewalls and part of the old road is still visible, It was reconstructed and the new pass was opened by Mr FA Loots LUK on 6 May 1966.
